i've been enjoying christmas for several years now but have never put up a tree.
not that i have any lingering feelings against one in my home, it's just that i've never felt a tree or decorations to be of any importance compared to what christmas really means to me.
i could care less about the tree, it's how tight the gifts for the kids are packed under it.

I think it's great you got a tree. And fiber optics is very pretty. Your description of stringing lights...yeah, live and learn with that one, eh.

so i'm having a get together for my family.
the "pit" is going, the suds are flowing, and the sound from the tv permeates the air.
i look over and i notice that i've carelessly left my laptop in a place where it's easily accessible.
I loved your story. You write pretty good, too.
What brought me to these type forums was a fence-riding elder sister who expressed some doubts - after nearly 8 years of no contact with each other. Years of self imposed neurosis because of this religion, but she just can't let it go totally. I'm sure much of it is probably due to the shunning thing. My goodness, she has witnessed for years how it works for me and probably has no desire to lose that connection with the rest of the family.
Anyhow, lets do hope your brother-in-law continues his searching, eh. Really no one can do this for anyone else. In the end it is a very personal decision. It's just that some are more open to honest inquiry...even at that, there are no guarantees.
Congratulations on keeping your mouth in check I've always had a problem with my mouth overloading my brain. But, I am getting better with age.

I'm no Bible scholar, but would like to reply anyhow.
Just this morning my husband and I were discussing the scripture that says something to the effect of how We can do these works and others...that WE are the gods. There isn't anything up there; it all resides within.
Me thinks that when religion holds people in bondage with their dogma, their purpose anyhow, or so is my opinion, WE have given over our power and thus lose the connection we have with our own Spirit.
So if there is a Satan perhaps it lies within those individuals that have told us how evil and wicked these "gifts" are when it applies to anyone other then themselves. If any of that makes sense. Doesn't do for me to try and sound very intelligent about these matters.
Some of my best memories are sitting in black gospel churches in Alabama. Boy, you talk about some rocking and rolling music and song. At time my husband and I would be the only white's in attendance and it was just wonderful. AHHH, memories.

i know there are other grandparents posting on this board who are proud of their offspring, too.. gosh, for all those lost years of having been raised jw - not really getting to know my maternal grandparents except through the eyes of an emotional jw.

I'm a grandmother of three beautiful and delightful children. My greatest joy, truthfully, are those kids. My husband and I go out of our way to give those children good memories of their grandparents.
My husband was very close to his paternal grandparents, and myself, having been raised JW missed out on too much with mine. So as I've aged and been blessed, it warms my heart to read about other grandparents who are living happily, and loved by the adult children.

Finally got mine sent out the other day. I wanted it to remain a secret, but with it going out of country, thought it would be good having a return address, etc. Besides, I made a couple of the items and wanted the person to know how talented I am hahahaha No more clues, either.
Last night I decorated the tree while hubby made a coconut pie. Hey, if anyone is interested in the recipe for that pie, it has no sugar, just honey. It's all mixed in the blender and just couldn't be any easier to make.

I watched a video not long ago and it was explained how certain symbols are placed on the backside of Interstate signs. Symbols that supposadly will tell the driver(s) where to take the prisoners according to where they are being shipped from, and of course what destination. It was pretty wild too say the least, and I've been tempted to look at particular highway/interstate signs just to see if there is any such thing.
Oh, one thing I also remember about that film was footage of an abandoned railway station that had been converted into a concentration camp. Damn, cannot recall what town.

Personally I believe that those really running the show will continue thier assault upon freedom. I also believe that when THEY decided to take a particular course of action against any individual, for whatever reason, one of the first things they take is the computer. They want to retrieve anything you've ever said to anyone.
With this phoney hate speech and hate laws, anything goes - and it goes against the citizen. Hell, I'm beginning to dislike using the word citizen because even in law that carries an entirely different meaning then we've been lead to believe...damn politicians!
No, I don't have an immediate source handy, but apparently since the early 1930's, we who consider ourselves "citizen" of USA have really been listed as "enemies of the State." That's pretty heavy duty stuff to think about. And there are concentration camps in this country. For what purpose?
So, do I think anything is possible? Yes. To what extreme they will go to is anyone's guess though. I don't think we have too look hard to see just what this global agenda consist of; and draw one's own conclusion.
